LAHORE: An event launching ceremony showcased the journey of 13 participants of poor families who were trained at the Punjab Vocational Training Council towards economic and social empowerment.
The participants recounted their experience and the impact the training had in boosting their confidence to deal with the challenges of life.
These young individuals all belonged to an underprivileged background who live in one- or two-room accommodations. The male parent, in almost all the families, was the main breadwinner of the trainees.
The male heads of the households had heavy workloads but the families still struggled to make ends meet.
Household expenditures were usually greater than the earners’ incomes, and this often led to indebtedness. So the beneficiaries had started to work for a better future, financial independent and jobs. All the participants of this programme were trying to complete their education.
