The district municipal corporations (DMC) of South and Central on Friday conducted sprays of antibacterial chemicals with the help of water bowsers in their jurisdiction.
The second phase of the antibacterial spray drive in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic had been initiated. On the directives of DMC South Chairman Malik Fayaz, different areas of Lyari were sprayed with antibacterial chemicals, according to a press statement issued.
The DMC South’s sanitation department sprayed in Lyari’s hospitals, markets, mosques and other public spaces. Fayaz said that the administration of the DMC South was making all its efforts to prevent the spread of coronavirus. The staff of the municipal department was provided with face masks, gloves and jackets to keep them protected during the spray drive.
The DMC South also distributed posters and pamphlets in a bid to educate the people of the district about adopting social distance and washing hands. The municipal inspectors made rounds of every nook and cranny of the district on motorbikes with loudspeaker, asking them to stay at home and adopt social distance. Fayaz appreciated the municipal staff for working round the clock.
Moreover, antibacterial spray drive was also carried out in DMC Central’s Khilafat Chowk in Nazimabad, Paposh Nagar, Board Office, Nagan Chowrangi, UP More and several other areas of North Karachi. DMC Central Chairman Rehan Hashmi said that the spray was being done with the help of water bowers. “We are also sprinkling water mixed with chlorine in different areas of the district,” he said. He appealed to the people to adopt social distancing and follow the doctor’s recommendations to keep themselves away from the virus.

“There’s no need to step outside home without any reason,” he said. In those areas where more cases of the virus were being reported, he said, They preferred distributing more hand sanitisers and carrying out more antibacterial sprays. He held out the assurance that they were doing whatever they could for the distribution of ration in their district.
