Rawalpindi: At least another 16 patients have been confirmed positive for disease caused by 2019 novel coronavirus, COVID-19 in last 24 hours here at the hospitals in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi that has taken the total number of confirmed patients so far reported in the region to 118.
It is important that another six confirmed patients of the coronavirus illness belonging to other districts of the country have also been undergoing treatment at the healthcare facilities in Rawalpindi.
Data collected by ‘The News’ on Thursday reveals that as many as eight new confirmed cases have been registered in Rawalpindi in last 24 hours while another eight have been confirmed positive in Islamabad Capital Territory.
According to details, a total of 62 patients belonging to the federal capital have so far been confirmed positive for COVID-19 in ICT apart from at least six patients belonging to other districts.
So far, the disease has claimed no life in the federal capital where a total of 44 confirmed patients are under quarantine at homes or quarantine facilities according to daily situation report of Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Field Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Division (FEDSD), National Institute of Health (NIH), Islamabad updated on Thursday morning.
According to report, as many as 15 patients were undergoing treatment at the hospital (Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences) in the federal capital on Thursday while three have so far been discharged after treatment.
In Rawalpindi, a total of 56 patients including those belonging to other districts of the country have so far been tested positive for COVID-19 while the infection has claimed a total of three lives in the district so far, said Executive District Officer (Health) Dr. Sohail Ahmed Chaudhary while talking to ‘The News’ on Thursday.
It is important that over 70 persons have been under quarantine in Rawalpindi while results in a number of cases have yet to be received by the city district government from National Institute of Health Islamabad.
