LAHORE: Former Federal minister and National Kashmir Alliance (NKA) Chairman Muhammad Ali Durrani has said Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s demand that lockdown be imposed in larger public interests has exposed that the decision-making of the government is in complete disarray and confusion at this crucial juncture of national history when the nation is faced with the dangers of huge loss of life and economy due to coronavirus.
In a statement on Wednesday, Muhammad Ali Durrani said Qureshi, who is also senior vice-chairman of PTI, had not only expressed no-confidence in Prime Minister Imran Khan and his strategy to deal with coronavirus threat, but also negated the televised speeches to the nation Imran made over the last few weeks.
“Masses are asking who should be followed, whether Prime Minister or Shah Mehmood Qureshi, in these troubled times, as one is for and the other is against the lockdown” he said, adding that the prime minister should keep his cabinet from making contradictory statements against his policies to prevent spreading more confusion among the masses.
Durrani said the situation showed the prime minister had not even taken his cabinet into confidence over his strategies to counter the spread of coronavirus. He said a display of consensus by the entire nation was the need of the hour to effectively overcome the crises but the prime minister had badly failed in showing any sincerity in opening his arms for the opposition parties.
