CHITRAL: Terming the Rs3,000 relief package in the prevailing coronavirus pandemic a peanut, senior lawyers associated with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Wednesday asked the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government to provide at least Rs20,000 to each poor family affected by the ongoing lockdown.
, Speaking at a press conference, Abdul Wali Khan, lawyers Muhammad Kausar, Sajidullah,
, Khurshid Hussain Mughal, Niaz A Niazi and others said that lawyer fraternity, traders, teachers of private schools, drivers and journalists were the worst affected people and they must be provided a reasonable package to cope with the situation.
They said that situation in Chitral was quite different from other parts of the country, therefore, the government should announce a special relief package for the people in this volatile region.
They lambasted the PTI government for creating Corona Tigers Force and termed it a joke with the people living in the lurch in this difficult situation.
“The ongoing lockdown has completely paralysed routine life and most of the people in Chitral cannot arrange two-time meal for the families,” the lawyers complained, adding that the elected public representatives from the area were only holding press conferences and doing nothing practical for the welfare of the people in the current emergency situation.
They demanded the government to waive off utility bills, end power outages, launch work on the gas plants and Garam Chashma, Bamburet and Booni roads projects approved by former premiers Mian Nawaz Sharif and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
