Rawalpindi : Another 13 patients have been tested positive for coronavirus illness, COVID-19 here in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi in last 24 hours taking total number of confirmed patients of the disease so far registered with the public sector healthcare facilities to 108 though at least four of them are residents of other districts.
Data collected by ‘The News’ on Tuesday has revealed that to date, a total of 46 patients have been tested positive in Rawalpindi district including six new patients who have been tested positive in last 24 hours. At least, four confirmed patients of COVID-19 reached hospitals in Rawalpindi from other districts of the country.
To date, a total of two deaths have been reported due to coronavirus illness in the district, one at Military Hospital on March 25 and the other at POF Hospital Wah Cantonment. ‘The News’ has learnt that a suspected patient of COVID-19 died here at a private hospital in town in last 24 hours as he was received dead by Benazir Bhutto Hospital though his final result is yet to be received by the hospital.
To date, the COVID-19 has claimed two lives in the district while a total of 46 patients have been tested positive from Rawalpindi district, said Executive District Officer (Health) Dr. Sohail Ahmed Chaudhary while talking to ‘The News’ on Tuesday.
He said the district health departments have been asked to manage data of COVID-19 patients in their relative districts. We received another four confirmed patients but they belong to other districts, he said.
On the other hand, a total of 58 patients have so far been tested positive for COVID-19 from Islamabad Capital Territory of which as many as 16 were undergoing treatment at hospitals on Tuesday while three have been discharged after treatment. As many as seven patients have been tested positive for coronavirus illness in the federal capital in last 24 hours.
So far, the disease has claimed no life in the federal capital where a total of 39 confirmed patients are under quarantine at homes or quarantine facilities according to daily situation report of Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Field Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Division (FEDSD), National Institute of Health (NIH), Islamabad.
