BEIJING: A mobile app for dictionary-based language services was launched Monday in Beijing to offer readers access to Chinese dictionary entries, literary works and knowledge on traditional culture.
Launched by the Commercial Press, a leading publishing house in China, the app is based on a score of authoritative Chinese dictionaries, covering more than 60 million characters in over 400,000 entries.It also offers literary classics and helps students look up the meaning of words. A collection of courses taught by experts and famous teachers are also available in texts, audio and videos.
The app will further include reference books and reading materials in English and other foreign languages, according to the publisher. The services will be free of charge until the end of April.
