KOHAT: The security forces and police Saturday arrested 63 suspected persons and recovered weapons from them during a joint search operation in parts of the district, an official said.
District Police Officer (DPO), Sohaib Ashraf, told reporters that the personnel of the security force, Quick Response Force and police cordoned off the Jangalkhel area and surrounding localities of the Pakistan Air Force Camp Kohat and conducted door-to-door search operation. He said that female cops also took part in the search operation.
He said that the law enforcers arrested 63 suspected persons, including two Afghan nationals for staying illegally in the area and recovered two Kalashnikovs, as many MP-5 guns, six pistols and hundreds of cartridges from them.
He said that security of the sensitive installations have been beefed up in the aftermath of the militants attack on the PAF Camp in Badaber in Peshawar to thwart any untoward incident.
