Mardan police solve minor girl’s murder case
MARDAN: The police arrested the alleged killer of a nine-year-old girl within 24 hours of the lodging of first information report.
Speaking at a press conference, District Police Officer Sajjad Khan said that on March 26, Maha Khan, daughter of Iqbal, went missing after she left home to buy soap from a shop.
He said that Sheikh Maltoon Police Station lodged FIR and he later formed an investigation team comprising SP Operation Waqar Azeem, DSP Muhammad Tayyeb Jan, and SHOs Ajab Durrani and Muqadam Khan.
“The police launched a search operation soon after the FIR and on Friday, the personnel recovered the girl’s body wrapped in a sack lying in a drain at a short distance from her home. The team got clue from the sack and reached the culprit Akhtar Hussain, resident of Janabad locality,” he said.
The official added that the culprit is a neighbour of the girl and an employee of her father. “The girl used to visit Akhtar Hussain’s house. On the day of the incident, the girl entered Akhtar’s house and while his wife was not present in home, he sexually assaulted the minor girl, later wrapped her body in a sack and threw it into a drain,” the official said.
He also said that Akhtar has two wives, one of whom is settled in Karachi.
The DPO said that KP inspector general of police (IGP) has announced cash reward and commendation certificates for the police party that solved the case. Meanwhile, MPA Zahir Shah Toru also announced a cash prize for the police party.
