Minister unhappy with isolation ward sans washrooms

TOBA TEK SINGH: Punjab Women Development Minister Begum Ashfa Fatyana on Saturday expressed her anger when she visited Pirmahal THQ Hospital isolation ward set up for coronavirus suspected patients and found that the ward’s rooms had no washrooms facility.

The minister asked the medical superintendent to immediately shift the isolation ward in a newly-constructed building after making temporary arrangements of water and electricity supply where the rooms had already joint washroom facility.

She told reporters that Toba Tek Singh district was so far a coronavirus free district and not a single corona patient had been detected till now.

She claimed that only three suspected patients who had returned from abroad had been admitted to the DHQ Hospital while the Islamabad National Institute of Health Sciences had confirmed in its reports that two of them had no coronavirus.

However, she added, the test report of one suspect was still awaited. She added that the data of 7 million daily wagers and industrial workers was being processed by the government who would get financial assistance during the lockdown period in the province.

Reportedly, accused Muhammad Shabbir had a dispute with his step-brother Yasir Bashir and step-sister’s husband Muhammad Safdar over a property dispute.

On the day of the incident, the accused allegedly opened indiscriminate firing. As a result, Yasir Bashir and Muhammad Safdar were killed.

Police are conducting raids to arrest the accused.
