PML-N leader demands release of Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman
JHANG: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) district secretary Prof Asif Dhudhi on Friday demanded the immediate release of Jang/Geo Group Editor-in-Chief Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman.
In a statement here, PML-N district leader and former ticket holder of Punjab Assembly seat Prof Dhudhi stated that the arrest of the leading media house’s owner was unjustified. He said that the media was the fourth pillar of the state and the freedom of expression was the basic foundation of a free nation. He further stated that the PMN-N leadership and workers were standing with the management and workers of Jang/Geo Group on the matter of the unjustified arrest of Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman.
133 FIRS REGISTERED: During a crackdown to implement Section 144 imposed by the government to protect the people from coronavirus, 133 FIRs were registered against the violators, including 92 FIRs against motorcyclists, here on Friday.
DC Tahir Wattoo along with Colonel Ishfaq Baig visited the different areas to monitor the implementation of the government directions issued during the corona emergency. He asked the people to remain in their homes and purchase necessities through online home delivery service in the best interest of the community as well as their own health. Later, the DC inspected the equipments received for the personal safety of medics and paramedics performing duties in the quarantine centre and isolation wards of the DHQ and THQ hospitals. He directed the MS and CEO health to avoid misuse of the equipments.
COPS PROMOTED: Punjab IG Shoaib Dastgir has promoted six assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs) and eight head constables to the next grades, serving in the district. According to the notification of the Faisalabad Regional Police Officer, ASIs Muhammad Manzoor, Muhammad Ashraf, Zulfiqar Ali, Dost Muhammad, Haq Nawaz and Muhammad Rafi have been promoted to the rank of sub-inspector. Similarly, head constables Ghulam Shabbir, Habibur Rahman, Nadeem Shaukat, Waqar Haider, Shamsul Haq, Mushtaq Hussain and Ijaz Hussain have been promoted to the rank of ASI with immediate effect. DPO Hassan Raza Khan has congratulated the cops on their promotions and advised them to continue their service with dedication.
