Man, friend held for killing grandmother for property papers
Police on Friday arrested a man along with a friend during a raid conducted in the Mominabad area of Orangi Town on charges of killing his grandmother .
The arrests were made by the investigation wing of the Mominabad police station. The suspects were identified as Haris, son of Sher Afzal, and Tanvir, son of Nadeem Ahmed. According to police, Haris along with his friend, Tanvir, had killed his grandmother, 80-year-old Jamila Begum, wife of Luqman, at a house on March 24. The victim was said to have put up resistance when the suspects were stealing property documents.
Vehicle thief held
The Anti Vehicles Lifting Cell’s (AVLC) North Nazimabad police claimed to have arrested a suspect allegedly involved in vehicles’ thefts in Karachi.
According to an AVLC spokesperson, Abdul Rehman alias Rehman Mulla, son of Alam, was involved in stealing vehicles, and police recovered one stolen Suzuki Mehran, one Suzuki hi-roof van and one TT pistol from his possession.
The spokesperson said that the suspect was a habitual car-lifter and sold the stolen cars in Baluchistan. He had been wanted to the police of different police stations, including Tipu Sultan, Gabol Town and Samanabad.
However, he has been arrested for the first time by the AVLC police. On Thursday, the AVLC had claimed to have arrested three men in two raids for being allegedly involved in stealing rickshaws and motorcycle.
The arrests were made by the AVLC Bin Qasim. The suspects included Naeem, son of Ehsan, and Faraz Ali, son of Abdul Rasheed. The police also claimed to have recovered one stolen rickshaw from their possession.
An AVLC spokesperson said that the rickshaw had been stolen on March 20 and a case had been registered at the Sukhan police station. He added that the suspects are habitual rickshaw thieves and sold the three-wheelers in Nawabshah. They had been absconders in Nawabshah.
In another raid, AVLC cops arrested a suspected motorcycle lifter wanted in an FIR lodged at the Sukkan police station. The man was identified as Umar Daraz, son of Afzal, and recovered one stolen motorcycle from his possession, which he had stolen on February 27 from the Sukhan police station remits.
