Man kills wife for ‘honour’ in Jhang
JHANG: A man allegedly axed his wife to death for honour at Jaghar village on Thursday. According to the initial police report, Allah Bakhsh doubted that his wife Perveen Bibi (40) had developed relations with some men of the village. On the day of the incident, the couple exchanged hot words with each other over the issue. Later, Allah Bakhsh allegedly axed his wife to death. On information, the SHO Massan police station rushed to the crime scene and shifted the body to DHQ hospital for autopsy and started investigation.
PETROL PUMPS NOT FOLLOWING GOVT’S NOTIFICATION: The people have demanded the district administration ensure implementation on government notification of oil prices because petrol pump owners are still allegedly selling petrol and diesel at old rates.
The people, including Ramzan Gulzar, Farid, Ghulam Hussain, Arslan and Mubashir, told reporters that the government had provided relief to the public by reducing oil prices during the corona emergency, but the profiteers and stockists of oil products were unhappy with the government decision and they are still allegedly selling oil products at previous high rates till the complete sale of their stocks. A spokesman for district administration Shakeel Ahmed, through a handout, stated the district administration was taking steps to implement the government directions regarding oil price notification.
PEOPLE ASKED TO REMAIN IN HOUSES: District Police Officer (DPO) Hassan Raza Khan Thursday said that the police were busy advising the public to remain in their homes by enforcing Section 144. He said that it was the responsibility of every citizen to avoid misuse of relaxation given by the government for purchasing food, medicines and other necessary items. The people should maintain social distance to save themselves and others during the corona emergency, he added. Meanwhile, during the flag march that was held with the coordination of the district administration and army personnel, the DPO said that the police were trying to stop public gatherings. Hassan Raza Khan told reporters that the people should avail home delivery service of vegetables, fruits and other daily use items that had been launched in the city with the coordination of the district administration. He further said that some violators of Section 144 detained in different police stations were released after four to five hours on the assurance that they would remain in homes.
Later, the DPO along with DC Tahir Wattoo and Colonel Ishfaq Baig visited the BHU Bagh and other public health facilities and inspected corona isolation ward arrangements.
PARAMEDICS: PML-N district secretary Asif Shahid Dhudhi has said that the doctors, nurses and paramedics are our heroes, who are serving the nation by putting their lives at risk during the corona emergency. In his statement here on Thursday, he said that the government should speed up providing equipments and other required necessities for the personal protection and safety of the health staff serving in corona isolation wards.
