MULTAN: Police have failed in reaching a conclusion and deciding the nature of the Vehari Chowk blast even after six days of the incident, The News has learnt.
No joint investigation team could be formed to investigate the matter. The Vehari Chowk area falls in the jurisdiction of Seetal Marri police but the Counter-Terrorism Department has registered a case without coordinating with them.
When contacted, the Seetal Mari police officials said that the CTD had registered the case and it was investigating it. CTD official Iqbal Chandio refused to give any detail regarding progress in the case. He said: “This is not our mandate to speak with media, so I cannot share any update.”
When contacted City Police Officer Azhar Akram, his assistant said that the CPO was busy in a meeting. Meanwhile, two more Vehari Chowk blast injured persons were discharged from the Nishtar Hospital on Friday. Eleven people had died and 71 others injured in the blast. Sixteen of the injured people are still under treatment in the hospital.
