Suspect coronavirus patients come out to protest against lack of facilities
SUKKUR: The police and Rangers on Saturday finally controlled an angry mob, which came out to protest against the lack of facilities at the quarantine centre in Sukkur and assured the pilgrims to address their issues.
Report said the situation was created when the coronavirus suspect or positive patients had broken the door of the quarantine centre, Sukkur, and came out to protest against the lack of facilities as well as the attitude of the medical staff. It said when the patients came out of the centre, the activists of a religious party was waiting and started supporting their protest. It said the situation became tense when the administration did not allow some of the attendants to enter the quarantine centre due to precautionary measures.
The report said the administration tried to convince them of the risk to visit their suspected or confirmed patients of coronavirus. It said after a brief argument, the patients came out of the quarantine centre and protested against the administration for treating them inhumanly and over lack of facilities. The police and Rangers after three hours of negotiations succeeded in sending them back to the quarantine centre, while the district health officer Sukkur, Dr Munir Mangrio told journalists that the centre was facilitated with required mineral water, fruits, foods, medicines and machines including blood pressure, and sugar testing machines. He said they even provided them with the WiFi facility to keep in touch with their relatives and parents.
