Yasmin reviews arrangements to handle situation
LAHORE:Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid reviewed preparedness and arrangements to combat coronavirus threat in Lahore City at a very important meeting with the authorities at the deputy commissioner’s office here on Sunday.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Danish Afzal, DIG Operations Rai Babar Saeed and other officials of the district administration. The district team gave a presentation on the existing arrangements.
The minister said security and cleanliness arrangements were in place in Lahore. The minister said the awareness campaign about coronavirus will be continued and mosques were being utilised to spread awareness among people.
She said, “I appeal to the people to observe instructions on social distancing. Even though preparations have been made for treatment of suspected and confirmed patients, the public must stay at home and prevent the spread of the virus.”
Industrial units: The Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development and Management Company (FIEDMC) Chairman Mian Kashif Ashfaq Sunday said that all industrial units situated in the estate were taking various possible precautions and preventive measures against coronavirus.
Chairing a meeting of top management of the operational industrial units, he said they were strictly following the guidelines given by the Punjab government and the federal government to avoid catching coronavirus.
He said the measures included screening of employees while entering the premises with thermal sensors, asking them to avoid handshake and cleaning hands with sanitiser, marking attendance with cards instead of biometrics, keeping sufficient distance between one employee to the other both at workplace and canteen, sanitising the conveyance vehicles and filling them with half the capacity, spraying disinfectants in and around the industrial cities’ premises.
He said both the federal and provincial governments were taking every possible step to protect the lives of people and also urged the public to strictly follow the precautionary and preventive measures; and cooperate with the government in implementing its decisions regarding the prevention from the virus. He said that the government, general public and the media together could fight the war against the corona effectively.
Mian Kashif said a help desk had also been established in Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development and Management Company (FIEDMC) head office to provide information and guidelines to employees about coronavirus.
He said they would also launch massive campaign to educate the public on how to protect themselves from the infection by adopting hygiene practices, including regularly washing hands and maintaining social distance. He said the residents of the localities were appealed not to come out of their houses without any necessity.
