Lt-Gen (retd) Qayyum says country’s economic situation improving

CHAKWAL: Defence Production Senate Committee Chairman Lt-Gen (retd) Abdul Qayyum Thursday said civil and military leadership is on the same page.
Talking to reporters after taking briefing of the Acting VC of UET Dr Mehmood Chaudhry on the UET Chakwal campus in village Balkasar, Qayyum said the USA has admitted that terror activities have lessened upto 70 per cent in Pakistan and economic situation of the country is also improving.
He said Pakistan China Economic Corridor would be a game changer in the region, saying that anti-Pakistan forces were also active to impair uplift efforts.
Dr Mehmood told Qayyum that 940 kanals land have been acquired and now HEC have approved Rs 944 million for establishing an engineering unit but funds have not been released yet.
Executive Director of HEC Dr. Raza Bhatti was confident that the funds would be released and UET Chakwal campus is approachable with Motorway and Chakwal campus have the potential to accommodate all six engineering departments required for a full-fledged engineering varsity.
Later, Qayyum inaugurated the government technical college of Thoa Bahadur which was completed at the cost of more than Rs 220 million.
Qayyum said all facilities would be provided to establish the technical institution as a role model in the whole region.
Qayyum also visited the government post graduate college Chakwal and UET Chakwal campus.
