QUETTA: Seven miners were killed while three others were left wounded on Friday after an explosion took place in a coal mine near Quetta, an official said.
Balochistan government official Shafqat Fayyaz said the incident occurred in the Degari area, some 60 kilometres away from Quetta. He said the blast occurred “due to the accumulation of methane gas” in the mine.
Levies rescue workers and local volunteers reached the site and retrieved the dead and injured. Fayyaz further said that majority of the deceased belonged to the Hazara community.
