Ulema ask people to adopt precautionary measures against coronavirus
PESHAWAR: Adviser to the chief minister on Information and Public Relations Ajmal Wazir has said that Ulema and scholars from various religions have agreed on the prevention of coronavirus and following the advice of the provincial government and medical experts.
“Ulema unanimously say that all victims of coronavirus enjoy the status of martyrs and also they say saying ‘Salaam’ is better than shaking hands,” he said while briefing media in the Civil Secretariat. According to an official handout, Ajmal Wazir said it was good to know that no fresh case from coronavirus was registered on Friday.
The adviser said 170 “ Zaireen” have been sent from Dera Ismail Khan to Gilgit-Baltistan and 250 more from Taftan reached Dera Ismail Khan, where they were quarantined. Earlier, prominent Ulema including Maulana Muhammad Ismail, Qari Roohullah Madani, Maulana Yousaf Shah, Maulana Abdullah Salfi and Maulana Nazeer Hussain held a special meeting organised by the provincial Information Department.
The Ulema focused on tackling the coronavirus as per the teachings of Islam. They suggested preventive measures, adding that epidemics took place during the early age of Islam and our religion prohibited the mobility from and to the place of the epidemic disease.
The Ulema said Islam has a glaring example to combat any pandemic and the Islamic way of treating and combating disease is the most relevant method for all the times. They called upon people to strictly follow the government and medical experts, adding that saying ‘Salaam’ was better for the Muslims than shaking hands.
Religious scholars said that the opinions and suggestions of doctors should be respected in the prevailing situation.
They said the Islamic teachings were based on how to save the lives of fellow Muslims, this is why all should take precautionary measures to be safe from coronavirus.
The chief minister’s adviser thanked the Ulema for their role in countering the epidemic and raising awareness among people.
