Police foil bank burglary attempt

Police foiled a bid of bank burglary in the early hours of Thursday and nabbed an accused red-handed, the police spokesman said.
He said that a citizen informed the 'Rescue 15' early Thursday morning that some men were trying to break the rear wall of the Habib Bank Limited (HBL) near Motorway Chowk.
The police team took prompt action and reached the scene immediately. One of the burglars inside the bank started firing, following which the bank’s building was cordoned off. The police team managed to open the door of the bank and succeeded in overpowering the man, who was later identified as Subhanuddin, son of Aqal Muhammad, a resident of Upper Dir. While two others managed to escape from the scene.
SSP Islamabad Sajid Kiani has appreciated the performance of Noon Police Station and announced cash prizes as well as commendation certificates for team members. He said that the names of policemen arresting criminals would be forwarded to the IGP with recommendations to give them special prizes.He directed all police officials for high vigilance in the city and ensure protection to the life and property of citizens.
