CHITRAL: The councillors Thursday asked the federal government to waive off the small loans of flood affected people of Chitral and help them revive their lost businesses. Speaking at a press conference here, councillors from Yarkhun and Mastuj union councils of Chitral, including district councillor Rahmat Ali, tehsil councillors Mir Sahib, Mohsin Hayat and others hailed the waiving off of the loans of flood affected farmers. However, they said that the government had only waved off the loans taken from the Agricultural Bank. They said that a very few people would be benefitted from the announcement as it was not easy to take loan from the bank. They said that securing loans from Khyber and Micro Finance banks was simple and about 80 percent people had obtained up to Rs100,000 loans from these banks for running small businesses. They said that the flash floods washed away everything and destroyed their businesses. “The people and businessmen have no money to return their loans and needs government special attention,” said Mohsin Hayat.
