RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Army killed seven terrorists in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) carried out on a hideout in North Waziristan (NW). Four soldiers, an officer among them, were martyred in the operation, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Wednesday.
On confirmed intelligence about presence of terrorists in a hideout near Datta Khel, North Waziristan District, security forces conducted an IBO in Mama Ziarat, seven kilometres southwest of Datta khel, the ISPR said.
As soon as troops cordoned off the area, the terrorists opened fire to flee from the hideout. During the operation, seven terrorists were killed. In the intense exchange of fire, four security forces personnel embraced Shahadat (martyrdom), including an officer, while one soldier got injured. A large cache of arms, ammunition and improvised explosive devices were recovered from the hideout during clearance.
The martyred soldiers were identified as Lt Agha Muqadas Ali Khan, 26, resident of Lahore; Hawaldar Qamar Nadeem, 36, resident of Layyah; Sepoy Muhammad Qasim, 24, resident of Layyah; and Sepoy Tauseef, 23, resident of Narowal.
