MULTAN: No major breakthrough could be made in the Vehari Chowk bomb blast case as investigators are waiting for a forensic laboratory report to establish nature of the incident, said City police officials.
They said that on the orders of CPO Azhar Ikram, heavy contingents of police, Rangers, secret agencies, Counter-Terrorism Department and Elite Force launched a search operation at Samijabad on Tuesday night but no suspect was arrested. However, police could recover only five Kalashnikovs and three rifles. They said that the weapon recovery was a routine matter.
When contacted, the CTD officials refused to give any updates about the bomb blast case, saying that they were not bound to talk with media.
Meanwhile, City Police Officer Azhar Akram appealed to the general public to quickly inform police on finding any suspicious bag or any other thing.
Presiding over a meeting to review progress regarding the bomb blast case, he appealed to the people to provide information regarding the incident at 061-4510200/0614511384 or send an SMS at 03002827777. He said that the informant’s name would be kept secret.
