KARACHI: Pakistan’s top squash player Nasir Iqbal has qualified for the main round of the $50,000 Macau Open at Centro de Bowling, Macau, China, on Wednesday.
He defeated Tsz Fung Yip of Hong Kong 12-10, 13-15, 2-11, 11-7, 11-6 in 66 minutes in the final qualifying round.
He had beaten Ahmad Alsaraj of Jordan 7-11, 11-5, 11-5, 11-5 in 38 minutes in the first qualifying round.
He will face fifth seed Max Lee of Hong Kong in the first round of this event, which is one of the high-profile tournaments on the PSA World Tour.
The tournament has attracted five men from the world’s top ten including defending champion Tarek Momen of Egypt.
