Sugar industry performing better

KARACHI: The Pakistan Society of Sugar Technologists, in partnership with Shell Pakistan, conducted its 49th annual convention, bringing together stakeholders of one of the country’s major agricultural sectors, a press release from the PSST said on Wednesday.
Sugar provides a significant share of Pakistan’s GDP.
The sugar industry faces certain challenges which threaten to impact many sugar mills this year, including high production costs and variable production output, the press release said. The challenges are a casualty of erratic weather patterns, it added.
