This refers to the news report, ‘NAB sees two ministries of PPP government behind Nandipur fiasco’ (September 12). It seems we are surrounded by ineligible, incapable, and corrupt ministers and bureaucrats who have no interest in public welfare projects other than filling up their coffers. In the case of the Nandipur project, the law, justice and parliamentary affairs and water and power ministries were found to be at odds with each other.
Raja Pervaiz Ashraf’s assertion that he did not know the technicalities about the project shows that different ministries are doled out on the basis of one’s relations with those who matter. The commission has done a great job by pointing out that the exchequer has suffered a loss of Rs113 billion. This should be investigated by NAB. The chief justice should also take suo motu notice and punish those who created hurdles in the project and wasted taxpayers’ money.
