The newly appointed Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) Managing Director Misbahuddin Farid on Sunday, vowed to repair all faulty sewerage lines as well as upgrade the water distribution system.
Presiding over a meeting, his first after assuming office, he said the KWSB would chalk out an agenda focusing on providing urgent relief to the citizens.
The MD also claimed to have chalked out a plan to straighten out problems of the Dhabeji pumping station – the main water pumping station in the city – in order to make it completely functional. He also said to have visited the station before the meeting. The participants of the meeting also promised to take notice of the KWSB’s land being usurped by the land mafia. “The land will have to be vacated by the grabbers at all costs,” Farid said. The main objective, the MD maintained, was to make KWSB effectively deliver relief to the citizens.
A complaint centre, streamlining the water tanker system as well as installation of water hydrants were also stated to be among the water board’s agenda.
A committee to look over KWSB’s ongoing projects as well as those completed had been formed, the MD claimed.
