RAWALPINDI: A Pakistan Navy officer was stabbed to death in a restaurant by a woman in mysterious circumstances when he was taking lunch with his fiancée on Sunday, police said.
The naval officer, Lt Ehsanullah Yousaf, son of Subedar (retd) Muhammad Yousaf, posted at the PNS Mehran, was sitting in the Javaid Café located near the Fawara Chowk with his fiancée Urooj when a woman identified as Rehana entered the café at about 12:45pm and straightaway asked Ehsan about a SIM, saying, “Return my SIM” but Ehsan expressing his ignorance asked, “Which SIM?”. She then whipped out a dagger and sliced his throat. Rehana disappeared from the scene after the attack.
The victim was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital but he succumbed to his injuries.
The police informed the Naval Police immediately after the incident. The Naval Police later reached the scene and collected statements of the people who had witnessed the occurrence. The police quoting relatives of the victim said that Ehsan and Urooj were going to tie the knot after six days.
Urooj, recording her statement with the police investigators, said that neither she nor Ehsan knew the attacker but the people engaged in the investigation of the case disclosed both, Urooj and Rehana, hailed from the same town, Palandri, Azad Kashmir. But the people of surroundings confirmed that Rehana was often seen roaming alone in the area.
Urooj was in police custody for further investigation. Police authorities said that Urooj will be sent home after the completion of the investigation.
