Adviser to Chief Minister on Health, Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that a three-day national polio eradication campaign will start from Monday (today) in Punjab, during which 18 million children of up to five years of age would be administered anti-polio vaccine drops. He said that Vitamin A dose would also be given to the children of six months age.
In a press statement issued here on Sunday, Kh Salman Rafique said that so far Punjab is polio-free province and the government was determined to make Pakistan a polio-free country for which every effort would be carried out. He informed that Health Department had constituted 39,877 teams for the campaign. He said that about 35,000 mobile team would visit door-to-door for giving polio drops to the children. Moreover, special teams have been deputed on the transactional points of the province and railway stations, bus terminals, airports and highways toll plazas for vaccination of travelling children.
