PESHAWAR: The State Bank of Pakistan in collaboration with Banking Association will provide fresh currency notes through short code SMS (8877) to facilitate public ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
The service will be launched from September 14 and end on 22nd of this month, said a press release. Those wishing to get new currency notes through short code should send SMS on 8877. The message should contain the National Identity Card number, space and selected Bank Branch Code. In return the customer will get transaction no and address of the branch in message.
To receive currency notes, transaction number should be shown to relevant bank branch along with original CNIC card.
Every customer will be provided with two packets of 10 rupees currency notes whereas one packet of 50 and 100 rupees, respectively. The facility will be available on experimental basis in branches of 335 commercial banks, spread over 92 cities of the country.
The communication said if anyone had no knowledge of the selected branch code, one can visit the website of State Bank of Pakistan, www.sbp.org.pk or website of Pakistan Bank Association i.e www.Pakistanbank.org.pk.
In case of any difficulty, the help desk can be contacted on telephone numbers 9211974, 9212165, 9212166. Fresh currency notes can be got issued only once from a specific mobile and ID card.
