Afghan national given 33-year sentence

PESHAWAR: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Thursday awarded 33-year sentence to an Afghan national on terrorism charges. The ATC judge, Salim Jan Khan, also imposed a fine of Rs40,000 on Noor Agha and ordered his deportation to Afghanistan after completion of the sentence. The court also ordered confiscation of his property, if any, in Pakistan. During hearing into the case, the public prosecutor said the Counter-Terrorism Department of the police had arrested the Afghan terror suspect during a raid on his house. He said that during the raid, he also opened firing at the police party.
The state lawyer informed the court that the police had recovered a huge quantity of explosives and hand grenades from the house of the suspect. After the prosecution proved charges, the court awarded a total of 33-year sentence and Rs40,000 fine.
Separately, the Services Tribunal KP restored the services of three police officers including two DSPs and one SP, who had been dismissed for their alleged links with kidnappers.
