SSP, ex-AG ‘kidnapped’ in Lahore

LAHORE: Two friends, SSP Mufakhar Adeel (Battalion Commander-I, Punjab Constabulary Lahore) and former assistant attorney general Shahbaz Ahmad Tatla, were reportedly kidnapped by unknown suspects under mysterious circumstances couple of days back. Punjab IGP Shoaib Dastagir has ordered inquiry and immediate recovery of the kidnapped friends. Johar Town and Naseerabad police have registered separate cases for further investigations. FIR registered at Naseerabad police station states Tatla left his office in Gulberg on February 7 but never returned. Police registered case on February 10 and started investigations. Meanwhile, it was learnt that the SSP also went missing the same day. His wife reported his missing at Johar Town police station. Sources claimed Mufakhar was involved in some covert investigation for the last couple of days. The cell phones of both persons were switched off. The DIG Operations said he had received the information about his missing. Police have been trying to contact his family, DIG added. SSP Mufakhar and Tatla were friends and belonged to Narowal. They used to go on parties together. Saddar SP Ghazanfar Ali Shah said police are investigating. The SSP had joined force in 2008 and had served in Lahore and other cities.
