Jamaat e Islami ameer Senator Sirajul Haq has welcomed a Supreme Court historic judgment for the enforcement of Urdu as official language and said it was a most auspicious moment for the entire nation.
In a statement on Tuesday, he said the JI had been struggling for the enforcement of Urdu for years and also observed Urdu Day last week. He said the Supreme Court decision represented the sentiments of the masses. Sirajul Haq said with Urdu becoming official language, the country would soon have its identity. He urged federal and provincial governments, armed forces and civil bureaucracy to implement the court decision in letter and spirit. He said the Cabinet division and Establishment Division should begin the implementation of the order without any delay or hindrance and added that the nation would not tolerate any delay in this respect. The JI chief said the competitive examinations should be held in the national language and all correspondence in offices should also be made in Urdu.
