Rawalpindi: A large number of ‘shemales’ (eunuchs) on Tuesday held a protest against police attitude.
Under the leadership of Almas Bobby, they gathered in front of City Police Officer's office, Rawalpindi, where they raised anti-police slogans. They, carrying placards inscribed with slogans, demanded jobs and free hand to earn their livelihoods. “Police arrest us when we are coming back from parties at night,” they alleged.
They also staged a ‘sit-in’ in front of CPO's office, Rawalpindi, and it continued till filing of this report in the late evening.
All Pakistan Shemales Association Chairman Almas Bobby said, “We are upset due to bad attitude of police officials. We could not earn our livelihood due to police fear.” She said that police arrest poor ‘Khawaja Sara’ when they are coming back from parties. "The government should give us jobs or give us liberty to earn our livelihoods," Almas Bobby demanded.
The senior police officials said that they have taken action on the complaints of citizens. "All are equal before law and we could not spare anybody in this regard," they said. They also said "It is our duty to investigate suspected people to avoid unrest situation."
