LG polls preparations gain momentum

CHAKWAL: Preparations for local government elections in district Chakwal are gaining momentum as candidates are set to file their nomination papers by September 11.
The PML-N, the PTI and ex-district Nazim Sardar Ghulam Abbas group have almost finalized their panels in all 71 union councils and 6 municipal committees for the LB polls. Seven opposition political parties would field their joint candidates contest the PML-N candidates in the LB polls at Punjab level. Reportedly, the PML-N candidates are enjoying the government machinery support. The PTI leadership claimed that more than 70 per cent candidates were ready to file their nomination papers and the Sardar Ghulam Abbas group was confident that 80 percent candidates would face the PML-N candidates. No adjustment between the PTI and the Sardar Ghulam Abbas group has been observed yet. The PPP, the Jamaat-e-Islami, the PAT have not fielded any candidates so for in Chakwal district. It can be said that an interesting contest would be seen among the PML-N, the PTI and the Sardar Ghulam Abbas group candidates, and in case of any seats adjustment the PML-N candidates would face a stiff competition.
HOUSE LOOTED: A house was looted on Monday. Five bandits barged into a house in Jafarabad locality in the area of city police station and took away a generator other household items worth Rs 275,000.
HOUSE ATTACKED: A house was attacked by some accused and its under construction walls were demolished. Chaudhry Imran Abbas of Hastal village told police that he won a civil case from a court and started construction of his house. He said accused Dildar Hussain, Dilshad Khan, Mashkoor Hussain, Ruqqiya Bibi and Rukhsana Bibi forcibly entered his house and demolished under construction walls and also threatened him of dire consequences. He said the accused also took away some valuables from his house.
