Karak residents demand gas facility
KARAK: The dwellers of 15 localities in the outskirts of Karak protested against the non-provision of natural gas facility and blocked a major road here on Sunday.
The demonstrators, led by Qari Badrul Islam, blocked the link road to Indus Highway near Jama Chowk.
Speaking on the occasion, the leaders argued that the illegal gas connections taken by the residents of Dera Ismail
Khan had been disconnected by the authorities concerned and now it was unwilling to provide legal gas connections to the localities.
They said the company was giving legal gas connections to different areas of the district, including Karak city, but their 15 localities were not given the same, despite authorities’ pledge regarding the provision of gas facility to the localities.
The elders demanded establishment of a sale meter station in the area to regularise the facility to locals.
They also demanded the construction of an underpass or overfly bridge for the residents of 15 localities on Indus Highway.
