Man held for ‘rape attempt’ in Hyderi area
Police on Sunday arrested a suspect who allegedly attempted to rape a minor girl in Karachi’s Hyderi area.
An FIR No 60/20 under Sections 376/511 has been registered at the Hyderi police station against the suspect, namely Sajid. The case is registered on behalf of a person, namely Intizar Hussain, a resident of Kauser Niazi Colony.
The police said the complainant in the FIR stated that the suspect, who was resident of the same area, took Intizar Hussain’s daughter to his house where he attempted to rape her. However, neighbours foiled the rape attempt after listening to the girl shouting for help, he said.
Residents of the area immediately called in police via the Police Helpline 15. Subsequently, a police team reached the area and took the suspect into custody. The suspect was moved to the police station. The police said the minor girl had been sent to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for a medical examination.
