Faisalabad likely to have Rs400b ring road

FAISALABAD: Faisalabad Development Authority Director General Sohail Khawaja has said that a mega project of 80km Faisalabad Ring Road has been conceived by FDA at a cost of Rs. 400 billion.

The project is proposed to complete under public-private partnership without involving government funds. He said this while holding a meeting with the team of the Punjab Urban Experts here on Saturday. The team members were included Local Economic Development Consultant Zia Banday, urban economist/senior specialist Dr Ghulam Mohiyuddin, senior research analyst Husnain Ijaz and others. ADG Amir Aziz, Chief Engineer Shahid Mehmood, Director Estate Management Junaid Manj, Director Town Planning Mehr Ayub, Deputy Director Admin Yasir Ejaz Chatha and other officers were also present in the meeting. The FDA DG stated that the planning was being made to launch different mega projects in the city to raise the quality of city development as per the future requirements. Giving details, he informed that the proposed six lane Faisalabad Ring Road would be linked with the two motorways existed around the Faisalabad which would only be used by the high speed traffic vehicles and special controlled areas would be established for the entry and exit of the vehicles and service areas, petrol pumps, weigh stations and security pickets would also be part of this mega project. He said that provision of establishment of different economic zones, including textile, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, agriculture foundries and other zones would also be specified around the ring road besides provision of establishment of international airport near ring road in future.

He hoped that the proposed Faisalabad Ring Road project would bring revolution in social and economic development sector and the District Chiniot would be seen as a part of this district while Sargodha, Jhang, Okara, TT Singh and Sahiwal districts would be come near to Faisalabad due to this important and significant mega project of the ring road. He was of the opinion that M-II Industrial Estate at Allama Iqbal Industrial City would also get climax by this ring road and district Faisalabad would take lead in development in the Punjab province.

The DG also unfolded the idea of techno park establishment in the city and said that this project would be proposed complete under joint venture for the promotion of information technology. He agreed with the Punjab Urban Unit team to get the technical and vocational expertise for taking of the mega projects of ring road, techno park and other development schemes for stepping forward in this regard as per international standards. The experts of urban unit offered their technical services in urban development, urban environment, information technology, economic development and other city development projects to promote the high standard of modern trends.

ONLINE HOME DELIVERY OF ITEMS: The district administration has established third Online Home Delivery Drust Dam Shop at D-Type Pull on main Sammundri Road.

The D-Type Colony, Samanabad, Abdullah Colony, Nawabanwala, Muzaffar Colony, Maqsoodabad, Nisar Colony, Allama Iqbal Colony and adjacent areas citizens would get fruits, vegetables and other essential items by calling after checking the prices of items in the Drust Dam App.

Meanwhile, Commissioner Ishrat Ali, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ali and MPA Mian Waris Aziz jointly inaugurated the Home Delivery Service from the office set up at D-Type Colony. PTI leader Mian Nabeel Arshad, AC Sadar Umar Maqbool and other officers were also present.

The commissioner said that online service for the citizens for buying fruits and vegetables was being extended to other populated areas of the city under the phased programme and the system would provide the people with one-click at home. He said that the divisional and the district administrations were taking steps for effective implementation of the price control mechanism and that the process of checking prices in markets and bazaars was continued process. He told that the public complaints received on the Qemat Punjab App were also being expedited. The DC said that at this point, the official price should be ensured to provide quality service to those who contact the number.

He said this service had become famous among the citizens and even they were purchasing fruits and vegetables directly from online shops. The MPA described the Drust Dam App as a great convenience for the citizens and said that this step would enable them to get the goods they need at home on a controlled rate. He said that the government was focusing more on price control mechanism in this regard. He said that all-out support would be provided to the district administration for the success of price control mechanism.
