LAHORE : Lahore Police Operations Wing is all set to provide foolproof security to the international teams participating in Kabaddi World Cup and the citizens as well who will visit Punjab Stadium to watch the world class matches. Police issued their security plan for the Kabaddi World Cup to be held in Lahore from today (Sunday) till Feb 16.
According to the security plan, more than 5,000 police officers and officials, including eight SPs, 31 DSPs and 76 SHOs, have been deputed for the Kabaddi World Cup matches for security purposes.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Operations Wing Lahore Rai Babar Saeed said police had already provided foolproof security to the visiting international teams arriving Lahore as well as Pakistani Kabaddi players. Rai Babar Saeed said that citizens would be allowed to enter Punjab Stadium after complete checking. He said that Lahore police had earlier provided foolproof security to all the national and international cricket as well as other sports events held in Lahore. “We will also ensure implementation of SOPs in letter and spirit for conduct of the Kabaddi matches in peaceful atmosphere.
Rai Babar Saeed said that round the clock monitoring of the residential places of teams, venues of the matches and movements in and round Punjab Stadium would be ensured through the CCTV cameras.
He said that Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit and Elite Force teams would continue their effective patrolling around the specific areas of the City. Snipers have been deputed on the rooftops of different buildings. The citizens coming to enjoy Kabaddi matches at the stadium will only be allowed entry after complete body search and checking through three-layered security mechanism.
Search and sweep operations are being conducted on a daily basis in the City particularly around the stadium and designated areas. Rai Babar Saeed said Lahore Police had always played a pivotal role in promoting international sports events in the City by providing maximum security to the events. He had directed the officers concerned to remain in complete coordination with related departments for security arrangements.
