Robbers kill 16-year-old boy on resistance

LAHORE : Robbers killed a 16-year-old boy on resistance in the Sabzazar police limits on Saturday.

Police have removed the body to morgue for autopsy. The victim was identified as Murtaza, a resident of China Scheme. Robbers intercepted him and demanded cash. He offered resistance to which the robbers opened firing. As a result, he received injuries. He was rushed to hospital where he died. He had come to the area to attend a marriage ceremony. Police reached the scene after being informed and collected evidence.

police stations: Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Shoaib Dastgir said that for the protection of properties and lives of people and supremacy of law, it was indispensable to further improve the working of police stations, therefore, all officers should closely supervise the working of police stations through close monitoring, effective supervision and inspection.

During his visit to the Capital City Police Office on Saturday, the IG directed the officers to address the issues of public by ensuring judicious implementation of law on a priority basis.

He said that there was no leniency for those who showed negligence and used delaying tactics in resolving the issues of citizens at police stations. Strict punishment should be taken against such persons in accordance with the discipline matrix,” he said. He stressed that there should be no delay in taking legal action against those involved in preparation of kites and metallic kite string. The law banning the firing into the air and kite flying should be strictly implemented. He said whoever violated the law should be taken into account without any delay.

He said that intelligence-based operations against proclaimed offenders, drugs peddlers and land grabbers should be boosted up and senior officers should personally supervise the operations and furnish weekly reports to the Central Police Office.

He said the Welfare Eye project for welfare of police martyrs and employees should be extended to rest of the districts of the province so that the problems of families of those who died in the line of duty or embraced martyrdom should be resolved without any delay.

He said that it was the need of the hour to utilise technical expertise and modern technology keeping in view modern policing.

Upon his arrival at Capital City Police Office, the IG was received by CCPO Zulfiqar Hameed, DIG Operations Rai Babar Saeed and DIG Investigation Dr Inam Waheed. They briefed the IG about the strategies for crime fighting and modern projects of Lahore police.

The IG deeply examined the working of monitoring room and other different projects, and directed the officers to improve the performance in this regard.

The CCPO apprised the IG of the steps taken for resolution of issues of families of police martyrs through the welfare project. He also briefed IG about performance of Police Station Record Management, Hotel Eye, Travel Eye and CRMS along with other projects.

Later, the IG chaired a session and examined collective performance of Lahore police for protection of wealth and lives of people. In the session, the IG said that Lahore police were the face of Punjab Police, therefore, the officers should adopt open door policy for solving the problems of the citizens without any delay. He directed the officers to ensure equal implementation of law and merit in society so that peaceful environment might be promoted.

He stressed that the investigation process should be improved in accordance with the needs of modern age and maximum benefits should be taken from use of modern investigation modules, geo-fencing and forensic science so that the pending cases could be reduced. He said zero tolerance policy should be adopted against those found guilty of deaths due to police torture.

Chief Traffic Officer Lahore Liaqat Ali Malik, SSP Investigation Lahore Zeeshan Asghar and all SPs of Lahore police along with other officers participated in the session.
