California Southern University inks MoU with Iqra University
The Iqra University has signed an MoU with The California Southern University, USA, which is a continuation/extension of their earlier agreement with the latter.
The California Southern University, in collaboration with the Iqra University, is offering a diploma in higher education, which commenced last year and its first batch is about to graduate in the summer of 2020.
The president of the California Southern University, Dr Gwen Finestone, with her delegation, visited the Iqra University and met Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Wasim Qazi. She expressed her gratitude to Dr Qazi for the academic support and collaboration, and vowed to further the collaboration.
Dr Qazi expressed satisfaction with the current academic collaboration and assured Dr Finestone of promoting collaboration in the best possible manner.
“Iqra University is indeed one of the leading varsities of Pakistan and we are much impressed by its academics and research standards. We are planning to further our academic ties and extend our academic collaboration in more areas of mutual interest,” Dr Finestone added.
An MoU was signed on the occasion by both the universities to continue the diploma programme in higher education. The two universities will also collaborate on joint research projects, conferences, workshops, roundtables, symposia, seminars and training programmes and exchanges of researchers, including faculty, graduate students and postdoctoral scholars.
Dr Qazi thanked the delegation and commented that their academic and research standards were in line with the global standards. “We are determined to further our ties with the CSU, which will ensure the goal of academic excellence.”
He also lauded the role of Dr Fatima Rehan Dar, director for the Centre for Teaching Excellence and Learning Innovation, IU, in spearheading the project and furthering ties with international universities.
A day earlier on Friday, a delegation led by Dr Finestone visited the University of Karachi (KU) and expressed interest in collaborating with the KU.
The delegation met KU Acting Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi at the VC Secretariat.
The visitors showed interest in offering short-term certificate courses to the faculty members of the KU as well as online education to them. During the meeting, Dr Finestone informed Prof Iraqi that the California Southern University was one of the best educational institutes that provided online education in different parts of the world.
