CHARSADDA: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq on Monday asked Indian leaders to refrain from issuing irresponsible statements that were posing threat to the peace and security of the region.
Speaking at a ceremony of provision of soft loans to 150 persons for launching small businesses, he lauded Gen Raheel Sharif for declaring Kashmir an unfinished agenda of partition.
He said that Indian Prime Minister Nerandra Modi’s statements were provocative and could inflame tension in the region.
The JI chief supported the Rangers’ operation in Karachi and said that it was launched with the consensus of all political parties after consultation.
“The Muttahida Qaumi Movement leaders had demanded operation in Karachi but cried foul when their own activists were arrested ,” he claimed.
Sirajul Haq said that the operation should continue till complete peace was restored to Karachi.
He asked government not to bow to political pressures. “The political parties are trying to bring pressure to bear on the government to ignore their misdeeds,” he added.
Earlier, soft loans were given to 150 poor people
for launching small businesses. Yardimeli, a Turkish non-governmental organization, in collaboration with Al Khidmat Foundation were providing these loans to poor people.
Yardimeli Country Director Mustafa Gray Tezle was also present on the occasion.
