ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Wednesday clarified ‘misreporting’ in some sections of media about the vacancy of office of the Board Chairman.
“The FBR Chairman Shabbar Zaidi is on medical leave and he will assume the charge of chairman as soon as he gets medically fit,” said Dr Hamid Ateeq Sarwar, spokesperson for the FBR and Member (IR-Policy).
He added that during this leave period, Nausheen Javaid Amjad (IRS/BS-22 Officer) was holding the look after charge of the chairperson. –APP Our correspondent adds: The reporter of the story says he stands on his story. He said Hamid Ateeq Sarwar had clearly stated during the meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Finance on Tuesday that the post of the FBR chairman is vacant.
He said the new report clearly mentioned that Shabbar Zaidi was on leave due to medical reasons and Nausheen Javaid was given the charge of acting chairperson. He also said that his story had also mentioned that Shabbar Zaidi has not given resignation and notification about his removal has also not been issued yet.
