A woman lost her life after a fire broke out at her resident in Karachi on Wednesday. According to police, the incident took place at a house located in Macchar Colony, within the remits of Docks police station.
The police said rescuers of different welfare associations and a police team reached the property and moved the woman to the Burns Ward of the Civil Hospital Karachi. The woman succumbed to burns during treatment, the police said, adding that the deceased woman was identified as 45-year-old Hameeda.
According to SHO Naseer Tanoli, the woman was married and the incident took place at her husband’s house. He said the woman’s husband and father in their initial statement told the police that the deceased woman was cooking food in kitchen when her dupatta caught fire accidently. The officer said no case had been registered so far; however, an investigation was under way.
