KARACHI: Former officials have welcomed PCB’s decision of implementing the model constitution for city cricket associations.

The constitution was approved by the Board of Governors at a meeting in Peshawar. They told ‘The News’ that they are reading the model constitution and will give their detailed reactions after reading it completely.

Sources informed this scribe that a meeting of defunct associations has been called in Sialkot next week. They said that it is good that at last PSB has unveiled the new roadmap for cricket associations in the country. The constitution had been delayed for several months.

The PCB dissolved the city associations across the country on August 19, 2019, which halted all club activities in the country. “We are looking at it from all angles and will discuss all points at length,” a former representative of a city cricket association said. “We have called all the stakeholders to the meeting in Sialkot. The final date will be announced in a couple of days,” he added.

The sources said that those invited to the meetnig included representatives of bodies of Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Peshawar, Quetta, Bahawalpur, and Sargodha.

The sources mentioned that they would also invite those who were not the office bearers of KCCA when it was dissolved but had been elected in previous tenures. A former official said it was surprising that the participants of the meeting included some representatives of associations although the bodies had been dissolved. “In what capacity did they attend the meeting? Besides, departmental teams have been thrown out of domestic cricket, but their representatives were there in the meeting. Why? It shows the double standards of PCB,” he added. PCB is yet to announce the interim setup for the city associations.
