Rally staged in UoP to express solidarity with Kashmiris
PESHAWAR: The faculty and students of the University of Peshawar (UoP) Tuesday staged a rally to express solidarity with the people of Occupied Kashmir and commemorate Kashmir Solidarity Day being observed across the country today.
The students and teachers arranged four processions on different routes in the university and reached to convocation hall, where they staged a demonstration. Some girl students in
the rallies arranged special skits to express support with Kashmiri students. Addressing the rally, Vice-Chancellor University of Peshawar Dr Mohammad Asif Khandenounced the Indianatrocities. He affirmed that academics must highlight the just cause of Kashmir through social media and other forums. Prof Abdur Rauf, Chairman political science, in his speech on the occasion stated that violence must be denounced by all the Pakistanis and pressure should be mounted on India to resolve the longstanding dispute.
Dr Minhas Majeed Marwat, Chairperson Department of International Relations, said that it was high time for strong lobbying in western capitals to highlight the issue. Director Pakistan Study Centre Prof Fakhrul Islam also spoke on the occasion.
