RAWALPINDI: Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa attended the Platinum Jubilee Reunion of 1st PMA Long Course as chief guest here on Tuesday.
While paying rich tribute to the veterans of 1st PMA Long Course for their great contributions, the COAS said that they provided pioneer leadership to Pakistan Army. He said Pakistan Army has established Army Institute of Military History (AIMH), where they are working to preserve their military history and veterans’ experiences which should be useful to younger generation of officers.
The Platinum Jubilee Reunion was attended by surviving members of 1st PMA Long Course and families. The officers of 1st PMA Long Course joined the Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) in January 1948 and 62 officers were commissioned on February 04, 1950 including Major Abdul Aziz Bhatti Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider.
Meanwhile, a four member Rotary International team (US Organisation on Polio Eradication) led by Mr Holger Knaack, President Rotary International called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at GHQ on Tuesday, says an ISPR press release.
During the meeting matters related to healthcare particularly Pakistan’s commitment for comprehensive polio eradication were discussed. COAS appreciated the contributions of Rotary International in Pakistan’s health sector and hoped that with concerted efforts of all institutions, polio will be completely eradicated from Pakistan.
