MULTAN: An accountability court on Tuesday awarded five years imprisonment and Rs 8.5 million fine to a real estate developer for establishing a housing scheme illegally and committing fraud with the people. The court convicted Shaur Bashir of Bahawalnagars. Complainant Nisar Ahmed and others lodged their complaints with the NAB Multan region. To it, the NAB authorities ordered a probe into the complaint in 2015. The NAB found that accused Shaur Bashir had announced establishing an illegal housing colony at Mauza Takht Mehal in Bahawalnagardistrict without getting proper permission from the Tehsil Municipal Corporation in 2010. The accused had established the colony on 160 Kanal land.
He also sold out several plots to the people and received millions of rupees from them against an unapproved residential colony. The NAB Multan Directorate issued several notices to the accused but he disappeared. To it, the NAB declared him proclaimed offender in 2016 and the NAB court issued non-bailable warrants for Shaur Bashir, Ghafoor Ahmed and Rukhsana. Later, the NAB arrested them in June 2017 and filed a reference in the accountability court.
