Federal govt cannot impose IGP on Sindh, says Ghani
SUKKUR: Sindh Minister for Information Saeed Ghani has said due to inappropriate policies of the federal government, the country was facing an economic and administrative crisis that has also affected Sindh.
He said a decision of IGP Sindh’s appointment was being imposed by the federal government, which would not be accepted by the Sindh government. While talking to the media persons, Saeed Ghani said consultations with the opposition party, especially with the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) on the appointment of the new IGP Sindh, was a new trend and the Sindh government would never accept it.
He added that in a meeting with CM Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah during the month of December, Prime Minister Imran Khan had agreed to replace the IGP Sindh Syed Kaleem Imam but once again the promise was not fulfilled. Against Sindh, several IGPs in KPK, Punjab and Islamabad were replaced, he said and added the federal government's meddling in the affairs of the province was not a good message for Sindh.
To questions regarding education, health and unemployment issues, Saeed Ghani said these problems do not exist only in Sindh but also in the rest of the country and the Sindh government was wrongfully being maligned for them. He said the Sindh government has started a survey of schools and found that the enrollment ratio in only 9,000 schools out of total 42,000, was 80 percent and the rest of the schools are being fully facilitated. He said the school survey was a major work to identify their requirements and issues, adding that through the USAID program, as many as 100 schools were being upgraded in Sindh, out of which construction of 40 schools was completed. Regarding health, he said, it was the government’s priority to provide better healthcare facilities to the people.
Saeed Ghani said expensive treatment was being provided free of cost in NICVD. He said even liver transplantation facility is available in Taluka of Gambat, where more than 100 liver transplantations were conducted. On a question over the theft of medicines from the Civil Hospital Khairpur, he said transparent investigation would be initiated to treat the culprits.
