ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar received Syed Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister of Sindh, for a meeting at the Ministry of Planning on Friday.
Issues related to various development projects were discussed during the meeting. These included, among others, the Greater Karachi Water Supply Scheme (K-IV), Karachi Circular Railway, S-III, Hyderabad University/Institute and Jamshoro-Sehwan Road.
Asad Umar assured the chief minister of full cooperation and support of the federal government for implementation of development projects. He said that there will be no politics on development issues.
He further said that the federal government was keen to complete the federal financed projects in Sindh and regular meetings of SIDCL Board were being held to fast track the implementation of such projects.
He said the federal government would also extend full support to Sindh for the early completion of jointly financed projects like K-IV water supply project.
He said Karachi Circular Railway is an important project and he has directed the Planning Commission and EAD to expedite work to finalise implementation modality for the project.
Murad Ali Shah reciprocated the federal minister’s sentiments and said that the provincial government will extend full cooperation to the Centre and any pending issues will be resolved through mutual consultation.
He said certain projects with joint financing of the federal and provincial governments needed to be expedited due to their significance to the people.
